Very beautiful, modernized escape in the Black Forest. The food is delicious. Especially the home made Nutella. The spa section is really well maintained with the infinity pool being the absolute highlight. At their gym they offer small selection of different classes. Considering all of this which results in high-end pricing, we were disappointed by how uncooperative the service was. They were really stressing us to make a dinner reservation (although in the end there were quite a few empty tables), pick our food in advance and when we requested a late check-out it was not possible (checkout until 11, checkin 15). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and this is the first time that this request was declined. With all of these time restrictions (make dinner reservation until 4 pm, spa closes at 8 pm, dinner at 7:30 pm, breakfast and hard checkout until 11 (the room keys deactivate automatically, so you won’t be able to open any doors) our stay was accompanied by constant deadlines which significantly reduced the joy of being there. If I want tight deadlines I go to work, at a spa hotel I want to relax.

The room was nice but the cleaning is not done properly everywhere. We were woken up at 7am because of the construction work outside. There's not a lot of different activities in the spa area and all spa treatments were not available during our stay because all the staff was sick (really??). The waiter at the restaurant was rude and ignored us for a good 20 minutes, make sure you book a table in advance even if you have a room there. The facial treatment was very relaxing and the highlight of our stay.

The place to relax with a swim, a great view and incredible food. The newly renovated rooms are the ones to request. The two bedroom suite is beautiful with stunning views over the countryside and wonderful balcony to enjoy it all from. The pool has plenty of loungers , clean, and long enough to swim some laps. It is a perfect place to chill out for a few days. Best decision after reading other reviews is to reserve your stay to include dinner. The food is A+++.Really exceptional! FYI- If you book a room without dinner in your package ,then were to order a la carte, it would be pricey. Best option is to include their top notch breakfast and sumptuous dinners. Tip: Reserve your dinner slots at the time of the room reservation otherwise you may be eating at an odd time as bookings in the restaurant fill up fast. Highly recommended.

I am beyond impressed by this hotel - wow. We had a lovely, cozy room with an amazing view of the infinity pool and green rolling hills. The pool is slightly heated which is amazing, and great for Insta pics if you’re into that ;) the food was made with LOVE. I am a giant foodie, picky eater, and the food was some of the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. We saw the chef cutting fresh herbs from the garden as we were swimming in the pool. How local and fresh does it get!! The staff is also amazing. Everyone is kind and competent, and accommodating to different requests - like getting some delicious cake in the off hours ;) highly recommend!! The drinks at the bar are also amazing, you can sit outside with a fire pit and enjoy the calm surroundings. If you’re into mountain biking they also offer e-bikes and there is a path which you can hike - haven’t tried yet but will next time! This will be a new bi-monthly ritual for my fiancé and I! What You See Is Not (necessarily) What You Get !! We booked 2 rooms for a few days in what we thought was a relatively newly built, modern-looking, design-award-winning hotel. Upon check-in we were told we were booked in the ‘old’ part of the hotel, which we didn’t know existed. Turns out the building advertised on the website has been built adjacent to the original hotel and connected by the reception/restaurant. The original hotel was known as “Waldhotel Zollernblick”. The old part of the hotel is an average hotel, squeaky stairs, dated and somewhat worn furniture, absolutely nothing like what is advertised on the website. When we complained at the reception not getting the room we had booked, we were told that we should have known there was an old building, and that it’s “very clear” from the pictures we booked a room in an old building. The lady at the reception got very defensive and angry when we said the website is misleading potential customers. She also said it was our own fault we book a room in the old part of the hotel. It really felt like I wasn’t the first to complain, yet this practice of misleading customers is fully intentional. We believe all Residence A/B/C rooms are in the old building but recommend you check upon booking (if you care). Also on arrival we found a piece of pie in our refrigerator from a previous guest. You wonder what cleaning procedures in COVID-19 times are being followed, or how long this had been in there. We complained (again) and asked for the refrigerator to be cleaned. The refrigerator however wasn’t cleaned as the same pool of water was at the bottom when we returned to the room later; they had only removed the pie. Being so fed up by now, we simply gave up and refrained from using it during our stay. Curtains are very thin, meaning it’s full light at 5:30 AM. The 2nd room didn’t have a refrigerator, nor a safe. On the positive side, face masks were enforced in the restaurant area, alcohol dispenser placed at strategic locations throughout the hotel. Breakfast buffet all neatly portion-packed, though it was the same throughout the 5 days we stayed and a bit of variation would be welcome. The pool and spa/sauna is clean and very nice. Overall it’s overpriced for an average hotel and being in the old building the boutique factor claimed by the management is absolutely nowhere to be seen.

This is a nice, quiet, and fairly secluded hotel in the Black Forest adjacent to a ski slope and walking distance from downtown Freudenstadt. The rooms are moderately sized with balconies that provide excellent views of the adjacent towns. Everyone speaks English and is really friendly. Breakfast is included and the food at the hotel restaurant for dinner is amazing, especially the filet with herb butter. You can also get wine and beer from a vending machine, because the bar is not located in that hotel. They're doing construction to add onto the hotel right now but it didn't bother us. Definitely go for a hike from the front door if you stay here, you'll enjoy it.
